NOSC Opens Submissions for 98th Oscars
The Nigerian Official Selection Committee (NOSC) has has opened submissions for Nigeria’s official entry in the Best International Feature Film (IFF) category for the 98th Academy Awards.
This initiative invites Nigerian filmmakers to submit their qualifying films to be considered for the country’s representation at the prestigious global event.
According to the committee, Submissions can be made through the official NOSC portal with the Opening Date on August 13, 2025 and Closing on September 12, 2025.
The committee also provided a clear list of eligibility requirements to ensure a smooth and accurate submission process for all filmmakers.
Eligibility Requirement:
Film Type: Must be a feature-length film produced outside the United States.
Dialogue: At least 50% of the film’s dialogue must be in a language other than English. Nigerian Pidgin English is an acceptable language.
Subtitles: The film must include accurate and legible English subtitles.
Technical Specifications: Must meet AMPAS-approved technical standards (35 mm, 70 mm, or Digital Cinema formats).
Theatrical Release: The film must have had a theatrical release for at least seven consecutive days between December 1, 2024, and October 31, 2025.
The NOSC is the sole body recognized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) to select Nigeria’s official submission for the Best International Feature Film category.
The selected film will go on to represent Nigeria at the 98th Academy Awards ceremony, scheduled for Sunday, March 15, 2026, in Los Angeles, where it will compete for cinema’s most celebrated honor.
The ceremony will be broadcast live to over 200 territories across the world.
