Nigerian Government Celebrates Nafisa Aminu, Crowned ‘World’s Best English Student’
The Nigerian Government has honored Nafisa Abdullah Aminu, a 17-year-old from Yobe State, who was recently crowned the World’s Best in English Language Skills at the 2025 TeenEagle Global Finals in London.
The Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, presented Aminu with a N200,000 cheque in recognition of her outstanding achievement.
The ceremony, held in Abuja, was attended by the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suiwaba Ahmed, Yobe State Commissioner for Basic Education, Abba Adam, and other senior officials from the Federal and Yobe State Ministries of Education.
Five other Nigerian students who also won awards in different categories at the TeenEagle Global Finals were present.
A Symbol of Nigerian Talent
In his address, Minister Alausa praised Nafisa, describing her victory as proof of the exceptional talent and resilience of Nigerian students.
He emphasized that such international recognition highlights the importance of continued investment in education and the need to provide more opportunities for young people to showcase their abilities on a global stage.
Alausa further assured attendees that the Federal Government remains committed to nurturing academic excellence through initiatives like scholarships, mentorship programs, and improved access to quality learning resources.
He urged other students to be inspired by Aminu’s achievement, seeing it as a testament to what can be accomplished through dedication and discipline.
Celebrating Yobe’s Resilience
Yobe State Commissioner for Basic Education, Abba Adam, congratulated Nafisa and described girls as “Amazons” and symbols of resilience.
He noted that her success represents both a personal triumph and a collective victory for a state actively rebuilding its education sector after years of insurgency.
In her response, Nafisa expressed gratitude to her teachers, parents, and the government for their support. She pledged to use her platform to inspire other students and encourage them to pursue academic excellence.
