NUPENG Reopens Depots After Deal With Dangote Refinery

Fuel loading resumed after the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) and Dangote Petroleum Refinery signed an agreement on workers’ unionisation.

A published copy of the 9 September 2025 memorandum says employees who wish to unionise may do so. It says the process was to begin immediately and be completed between 9 and 22 September, and that workers would not be victimised because of the dispute.

NUPENG said the dispute followed concerns about union membership for newly recruited drivers. That account is attributed to the union; CeewhyNews has not treated the allegation itself as an independently established finding.
