The Lagos State Government has approved and released the harmonised 2026/2027 academic calendar for all public and private primary and secondary schools across the state, as part of efforts to standardise the academic session.

The Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Jamiu Alli-Balogun, disclosed this in a statement, noting that the calendar was developed following extensive consultations with education stakeholders coordinated by the Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA).

According to the commissioner, the calendar was finalised after two stakeholders’ meetings during which participants reviewed and agreed on key dates for the new academic session, including resumption dates, mid-term breaks, examination periods, and public holidays.

The harmonised calendar is designed to help schools, teachers, parents, and students plan effectively for the academic year while eliminating the disparities that often arise when schools operate on different schedules,” he said.

Alli-Balogun urged all public and private schools in the state to strictly adhere to the approved calendar, stressing that compliance would enhance effective coordination of academic activities across Lagos.

He also advised parents, school administrators, and other stakeholders to obtain the full 2026/2027 academic calendar from the Office of Education Quality Assurance’s official website and other verified Lagos State Government digital platforms.
