WAFCON 2026: Ghana, Malawi clash as full quarter-final fixtures emerge

The quarter-final line-up for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) has been confirmed following the completion of the group-stage matches.

The final group fixtures were played on Thursday, with the last qualification spots decided in Group D.

Ghana secured their place in the knockout stage after playing out a 1-1 draw with Mali, while Cameroon also drew 1-1 with Cape Verde.

Cameroon had already qualified for the quarter-finals before the final round of Group D matches, while Ghana’s qualification was confirmed following Thursday’s results.

The Black Queens of Ghana will now face Malawi in the quarter-finals, with both teams aiming to secure a place in the last four.

In the other quarter-final fixtures, defending champions Nigeria will continue their title defence, while South Africa will take on hosts Morocco.

Ivory Coast will face Algeria in another highly anticipated quarter-final encounter.

The confirmed WAFCON 2026 quarter-final fixtures are:

Ghana vs Malawi

South Africa vs Morocco

Ivory Coast vs Algeria

Nigeria vs Cameroon

Nigeria are the reigning African champions and will be aiming to extend their record by winning an 11th WAFCON title.

The Super Falcons have historically dominated the competition and will be seeking another successful title defence as the tournament enters the knockout stage.
