Africa’s rapid digital transformation is creating new opportunities across banking, fintech, e-commerce, telecommunications, cloud computing and artificial intelligence. How Africa can address the cybersecurity skills gap

Closing the gap will require more than simply producing cybersecurity graduates. Education and training programmes will need to become more practical and closely connected to the demands of the industry.

Universities and training institutions can give students hands-on experience through simulated cyberattacks, security operations centres, cloud environments, digital-forensics tools and incident-response exercises.

With the supply of experienced professionals remaining limited, organisations cannot depend entirely on recruiting already-qualified specialists.
