Tinubu Appoints Abel Enitan as New Head of Civil Service

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan as the new Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HoCSF).

The appointment will take effect from August 27, 2026, according to a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Enitan will succeed Didi Esther Walson-Jack, who is due to retire from the Federal Civil Service after attaining the statutory retirement age of 60.

Before his appointment, Enitan served as Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education, a position he assumed in March 2025. Official government records also show that he previously served as Permanent Secretary in other ministries, including Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Police Affairs and Aviation.

Enitan joined the ranks of Federal Permanent Secretaries following his appointment in December 2018. Government records listed him among nine Permanent Secretaries appointed at the time and identified Osun State as his state of origin.

His latest appointment places him at the head of the Federal Civil Service, where he will be responsible for providing leadership and coordinating the implementation of reforms across the service.

The transition is expected to formally take place when Walson-Jack exits office and Enitan’s appointment becomes effective on August 27.
