Mike Ezuruonye Joins Directors Guild of Nigeria as Full Member

Nollywood actor and filmmaker Mike Ezuruonye has been admitted as a full member of the Directors Guild of Nigeria, DGN, marking another step in his transition from acting into broader filmmaking roles.
Ezuruonye received his full membership during the guild’s 2026 Directors’ Week and DGN Awards activities in Lagos, which ended on August 21. A certificate issued in his name and signed by DGN National President Uche Agbo confirmed his admission into the professional body.
The development formally places the popular actor among professionals represented by the guild in Nigeria’s film and audiovisual industry.
Ezuruonye, who has spent more than two decades in Nollywood, is widely known for his work as an actor but has over the years expanded into film production and directing. His admission into the DGN therefore reflects his growing involvement behind the camera rather than the beginning of his directing career.
The 2026 Directors’ Week brought together filmmakers, actors, producers and other stakeholders for a series of industry activities, including masterclasses, panel discussions, networking sessions and the inaugural DGN Awards.
The Directors Guild of Nigeria is the professional association representing directors working across film, television, documentaries, music videos and other audiovisual productions in the country.
According to the guild, its mandate includes promoting professional standards, protecting the interests of directors and providing opportunities for training, mentorship and collaboration within the Nigerian creative industry. It is currently led by Uche Agbo.
While reports indicate that other industry practitioners also participated in activities connected with the 2026 Directors’ Week, CeewhyNews could independently verify Ezuruonye’s admission as a full member.
