Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo has condemned the release of indecent footage showing a passenger, Comfort Emmanson, during an incident on an Ibom Air flight.

According to him, the release of this material was unacceptable and directed that the staff member responsible be identified and sanctioned.

The Minister’s statement also detailed the passenger’s indefinite flight ban (both domestic and international) imposed by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), her arraignment on criminal charges at an Ikeja Magistrates Court, and her subsequent remand at Kirikiri prison due to an inability to provide sufficient sureties.

While i acknowledge the filming of the passenger’s unruly behavior as necessary evidence for prosecution, i totally condemn the release of the indecent footage. It is an unacceptable act.” he stated

The Minister also reiterated the government’s commitment to protecting women’s dignity.

To prevent similar incidents, Keyamo ordered further staff training in public relations and conflict resolution for Ibom Air.

He also scheduled a joint security meeting for the following week to improve inter-agency coordination of security measures at airports.

He concluded by reminding passengers that established channels exist to address grievances through the NCAA’s Consumer Protection Directorate, urging against resorting to actions that could lead to legal consequences.
