The vibrant spirit of Nigeria was on full display as a filmmaker and visual storyteller Niyi Fagbemi unveiled his immersive “Naija In Motion” exhibition.
The two-day event, held in Lagos, offered guests a profound journey through the nation’s diverse landscapes, rich cultures, and compelling human stories, all seen through the lens of the internationally renowned creator.
The exhibition served as a powerful testament to Fagbemi’s mission to reframe the African narrative.
Moving beyond common stereotypes, “Naija In Motion” captured the dynamic, evolving essence of the country, highlighting its often-unseen beauty and complexity.
The curated collection featured a selection of his most impactful work, including breathtaking aerial views of Nigeria’s geography, the vibrant grandeur of cultural festivals like Ojude Oba, and intimate portraits of everyday life.
Fagbemi, whose work has gained international recognition—including a video with over 100 million views—shared his mission:
“My goal has always been to showcase the true essence of our country,” Fagbemi stated. “We have incredible stories, breathtaking beauty, and resilient people. This exhibition is a celebration of Nigeria, one day at a time, through light and motion.”
He also called for greater collaboration and support from both the government and private patrons, encouraging attendees to invest in the arts by purchasing the available works.
The event drew a diverse crowd of art lovers, cultural enthusiasts, members of the diplomatic corps, and business leaders, all of whom praised Fagbemi’s cinematic approach and commitment to authentic storytelling.
“Niyi Fagbemi is not just a filmmaker; he is an ambassador for Nigerian culture,” said attendee Tobi Peters.
Art collectors Obasegun Oni and Alabi Adeyemi commended his unique perspective.

Echoing the call for support, Fagbemi’s family emphasized the economic importance of investing in young talents.
“It is an integral part of Nigeria’s economy because it projects us in a good light and showcases our beauty to the world,”
“The government really needs to invest more in young talents that have a passion for changing the country’s narrative.” said Funke Fagbemi, his mother and Olumuyiwa Fagbemi, his cousin.
