Air Peace Launches Direct Barbados Service, Boosts Africa-Caribbean Connectivity

West and Central Africa’s leading carrier, Air Peace, has successfully commenced direct flight operations between Lagos and Barbados, marking a significant milestone in strengthening air connectivity between Africa and the Caribbean.

The inaugural scheduled commercial flight, operated on May 24, 2026, departed Lagos aboard the airline’s Boeing 777 aircraft with over 284 passengers on board, reflecting growing demand for easier and more direct travel options between both regions.

Among dignitaries on the historic flight were the airline’s Chief Commercial Officer, Nowel Ngala; Barbados High Commissioner to Nigeria, Ghana and Liberia, Juliette Bynoe-Sutherland; actress Temitope Olowoniyan; alongside other airline delegates and passengers.

Speaking on the development, the airline described the service as a major step toward improving accessibility and reducing the travel difficulties often experienced by passengers flying between Africa and the Caribbean.

“The Lagos-Barbados route is designed to provide travelers with a more seamless and convenient travel experience, eliminating the burden of multiple stopovers, long transit hours and complex visa processes,” the airline stated.

Industry stakeholders also described the new route as another strategic milestone in Air Peace’s expanding international network and a move aimed at positioning Nigeria as a stronger aviation hub within Africa.

According to the airline, the direct connection is expected to boost tourism, trade, investment opportunities and cultural exchange between West Africa and the Caribbean while strengthening economic and people-to-people ties across both regions.

Air Peace further confirmed that the first commercial return service from Barbados to Lagos is scheduled for May 25, with subsequent operations expected to run twice monthly as the carrier continues to expand connectivity across underserved international markets.
