Nigerian Afrobeats singer Asake has reached another streaming milestone after his second studio album, Work of Art, surpassed 900 million streams on Spotify.

The album was released in June 2023 and includes songs such as Lonely At The Top, Amapiano, 2:30 and Remember.

The latest milestone makes Work of Art Asake’s second project to cross the 900-million mark on the streaming platform.

His debut album, Mr. Money With The Vibe, has also accumulated hundreds of millions of streams and is approaching the one-billion threshold.

Work of Art was an important project in Asake’s rise from a fast-growing Nigerian act into one of Afrobeats’ internationally recognised performers.

Its continued streaming performance more than three years after release also demonstrates the long-tail value of successful Nigerian music catalogues.

Spotify stream counts represent plays on one platform and are not the same as album sales, unique listeners or total consumption across all music services.

The 900-million figure nevertheless provides another indicator of the international reach Nigerian Afrobeats recordings have developed through digital platforms.
