Air Peace has taken delivery of another Embraer 190 aircraft, increasing its Embraer fleet to 18 as the airline strengthens capacity for its domestic, regional and international operations.
The 96-seat aircraft arrived at the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal Two, Lagos, at about 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 7, 2026.
It was flown into Lagos by Captain Ibironke Rotimi-Olajide and became the eighth aircraft added to the airline’s fleet in 2026.
The latest delivery forms part of Air Peace’s fleet acquisition and network expansion programme, which is designed to give the airline greater flexibility in matching aircraft capacity with passenger demand across different routes.
The aircraft was named after Mrs Eka Sunmonu, wife of Mr Mutiu Sunmonu, a former Managing Director of the Shell Petroleum Development Company.
According to the airline, the development marks the first time an Air Peace aircraft has been named after someone outside the Onyema family.
Air Peace’s growing Embraer portfolio includes aircraft from the manufacturer’s E-Jet family and the newer E2 series. The Nigerian carrier was the African launch customer for the Embraer E195-E2.
Its wider fleet also includes Boeing aircraft deployed on domestic, regional and long-haul international routes. Air Peace said it had added five Boeing 737-800 aircraft to its fleet in 2026 as part of efforts to increase capacity and support network growth.
The latest Embraer 190 is configured with 12 Business Class seats and 84 Economy Class seats.
Its Business Class cabin has a 1-2 seating arrangement intended to provide passengers with greater personal space and privacy.
The Economy Class section has a 2-2 configuration, eliminating middle seats for passengers. The aircraft also offers additional legroom, a spacious cabin and in-seat power sockets.
Air Peace spokesperson, Osifo-Whiskey Efe, described the delivery as an important step in the airline’s long-term fleet and network development strategy.
“The arrival of another Embraer 190 is an important milestone in our strategic fleet expansion programme,” Efe said.
“We are deliberately building a diverse and versatile fleet that gives us the operational flexibility required to strengthen our network, improve schedule resilience and provide greater connectivity across the markets we serve.”
He said the airline’s fleet decisions were being guided by its expansion plans and the need to deploy suitable aircraft across its different markets.
“With 18 Embraer aircraft now in our fleet, alongside our growing Boeing portfolio, we are building capacity for the long term,“Every fleet decision is tied to our broader expansion strategy and our commitment to deploying the right aircraft across our domestic, regional and international network.” Efe said.
The latest addition is expected to provide Air Peace with more operational options as it seeks to improve flight schedules, expand connectivity within Nigeria and strengthen its presence across African and international markets.
